HISTORIC MARTIN FRANKLIN HANLEY HOUSE

The Martin Franklin Hanley House is a historic property located in Clayton, Missouri. The home was constructed in 1855 and is an excellent example of Greek Revival architecture. The building was originally owned by Martin Franklin Hanley and his wife, Elizabeth, and remained in the Hanley family for over a century.

The two-story brick structure features a grand entrance portico supported by four Doric columns and a central entrance with a fanlight window. The interior of the house is equally impressive with intricate plasterwork, marble fireplaces, and original hardwood floors. The home also features a spacious ballroom and a formal dining room, both of which are adorned with ornate chandeliers.

In 1966, the Hanley family donated the historic property to the city of Clayton, and it was converted into a museum in 1976. Today, the Martin Franklin Hanley House serves as a popular tourist destination and event venue. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the property and learn about the history of the Hanley family and the development of Clayton, Missouri. The house is also available for private events, including weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings.
