The Raymore-Lees Summit Historical Society (RA LONG) is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Raymore, Lee’s Summit, and the surrounding area. Founded in 1989, the society is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
RA LONG collects, preserves, and shares documents, photos, artifacts, and stories related to the history of Raymore and Lee’s Summit. The society maintains an extensive research library of books, documents, and photographs, as well as a growing collection of artifacts and memorabilia. The Raymore-Lees Summit Historical Society provides educational programs and presentations, hosts a variety of events, and presents an annual History Fair.
RA LONG also operates the Raymore-Lees Summit Historical Museum, which is located in downtown Lee’s Summit. The museum offers a variety of exhibits and programs, including a research library, a walking tour of historic homes, and a variety of rotating exhibits.
The Raymore-Lees Summit Historical Society is a member of the Missouri Alliance of Historical Societies and Museums, and works collaboratively with other local history organizations to promote and preserve the history and heritage of the region.
