The North Alabama Vietnam Pilots Association (NAVPA) is a nonprofit organization based in Huntsville, Alabama. The association was founded in 2004 to honor and recognize Vietnam era pilots and their families. NAVPA is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the men and women who served in the Vietnam War and their families.

NAVPA is made up of veterans, their families, and friends. The organization hosts monthly meetings to provide support and fellowship to veterans and their families. The organization also offers educational events to educate members on the history and impact of the Vietnam War.

NAVPA also provides financial assistance to veterans in need and their families through their annual scholarship program. The scholarship is open to students who are either the child or grandchild of a Vietnam era veteran.

NAVPA also works with local schools and organizations to promote awareness of the Vietnam War and its impact on our nation’s history. Through these efforts, NAVPA hopes to ensure that the sacrifices made by Vietnam era veterans are never forgotten.

Great Moonbuggy Race, 1994 (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1994) The NASA Great Moonbuggy Race is an annual event, held at the US Space and Rocket Center and organized by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., in which high school and college students are challenged to design, build and race lightweight, human-powered moonbuggies that tackle many of the same engineering challenges dealt with by Apollo-era lunar rover developers at Marshall in the late 1960s. This photograph of the University of Alabama at Huntsville moonbuggy team was taken during the first running of the event at Redstone Arsenal in 1994 over the actual course where the original lunar roving vehicles were tested. TBEX Comes to NASA NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center hosted participants attending The Travel Blog Exchange conference for a tour of the center May 4, 2017. TBEX is the largest conference and networking event for travel bloggers, online travel journalists and social media enthusiasts. The group toured facilities that are building hardware for the Space Launch System, NASA’s new rocket, and also got visit the Payload Operations Integration Center which monitors science experiments for the International Space Station 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year. NASA Social (Feb 2, 2015)3 State of NASA event at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center on Monday, Feb. 2 On Monday, Feb. 2 NASA Marshall invited social media followers to an in-person State of NASA event. The event included a tour of the center which showcased highlights of the work Marshall is doing on the Space Launch System, NASA’s new heavy lift rocket. Another tour segment included the development and maintenance on the advanced life support systems on the International Space Station, as well as the life support systems that could be used on future exploration missions to Mars and other deep space destinations. Rockets Away! 2012 Student Launch Projects (NASA, Marshall, 4/22/12) Specially crafted rockets soared high into the skies April 22 at the 2011-12 NASA Student Launch Projects challenge. More than 500 students, representing 53 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in 28 states, launched rockets of their own design -- complete with working science payloads or engineering payloads -- at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. The students vied to see whose rocket could come closest to the 1-mile altitude goal and safely return its onboard science payload to Earth. Fifty-one teams took part, though two faced mechanical or technical issues and did not launch. Ten preliminary awards were presented, and the grand prize -- $5,000 from ATK Aerospace Group in Salt Lake City, Utah -- will be awarded May 18 after final post-flight analysis and review are complete. This is the fifth year ATK has sponsored Student Launch Projects.
