The Jones County Genealogy Organization Inc. (JCGO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching and preserving the history and genealogy of Jones County, Mississippi. Founded in 1987, the organization operates out of Laurel, Mississippi and serves as a repository for records, documents, photographs, and artifacts related to Jones County and its citizens.

The organization is governed by a board of directors, which holds monthly meetings, publishes a quarterly newsletter, and hosts an annual conference. JCGO also offers research assistance and genealogy classes, and serves as a resource for area residents interested in tracing their family history.

Laurel, MS train station Currently served by Amtrak's Crescent passenger train, the station was originally built in 1913 by the New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad, which was acquired in 1916 by the Southern Railway.

The 1908 courthouse here in Ellisville has a larger courthouse lawn. Along with the Confederate monument in the foreground, these two structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as &quot;Jones County Courthouse and Confederate Monument at Ellisville.&quot;

This fading mural is on the side of the Marcus Furniture store near downtown Laurel. I took this picture when standing in front of the large train station, where, as noted, is still in use by Amtrak.

Confederate Monument - Laurel, MS Located on the grounds of the Jones County courthouse in Laurel, MS. One thing that makes this 1912 U.D.C. monument stand out to me is not only the soldier above, but the lady below. The memorial is dedicated to fallen heroes, so I assume the lady is mourning the loss of her soldier husband.
