Friends of the Siege and Battle of Cori is a non-profit organization based in Corinth, Mississippi, that is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Siege and Battle of Corinth that took place during the American Civil War. The organization was founded in 2010 and is made up of volunteers who are passionate about history and the preservation of historical sites.

The Siege and Battle of Corinth was a pivotal moment in the Civil War, as it marked a turning point in the Union's effort to control the Mississippi River. The battle took place from October 3-4, 1862, and resulted in a Union victory. The Friends of the Siege and Battle of Cori work tirelessly to educate the public about the significance of this battle and the sacrifices made by the soldiers who fought in it.

The organization hosts events throughout the year, including reenactments, lectures, and tours of historical sites. They also work to maintain and preserve the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, which features exhibits and artifacts related to the Siege and Battle of Corinth.

Battery Powell, a Union Army battery during the Battle of Corinth. The day after Parks's death, Private Wilcox died here, a mile away. One hundred years after this photograph was taken, my family moved into a house that sits on this site. I was a teenager when we moved.
Behind this wall . . . . . . is a space in another time . . . . . . it was then an open field on the edge of the small village of Corinth, Mississippi. That other today was early morning, October 3, 1862. A Union scouting party was crossing that field, this field, in this space, in this time, when Private Lewis Wilcox of the 48th Indiana Volunteer Infantry grabbed the arm of Corporal James "Hop-Frog" Parks of the 16th Iowa Infantry . . . "Parks! There through the trees – General Grant with his entourage!" As Parks lifted his binoculars in the thrill of better seeing the already famed aggressor general, a sniper's round (as Confederate troops were still on the outskirts of the other side of the town, this sniper was thought to be a local rebel sympathizer) shattered Parks's skull, and he fell dead at Wilcox's feet. Wilcox died the next day, when his Company was called to retake the Union Battery Powell from the Confederate troops who had taken the Battery that same morning.
