MISSISSIPPI COAST HISTORICAL & GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

The Mississippi Coast Historical & Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization based in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was founded in 1968 by a group of local history enthusiasts with the aim of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Mississippi Gulf Coast region.

The society collects and archives historical and genealogical materials related to the Mississippi Coast, including photographs, documents, maps, and artifacts. Its collections cover a wide range of topics, including the history of Biloxi and other coastal communities, the seafood industry, the Civil War, and the Native American tribes that once lived in the region.

The society also hosts regular events and programs to educate and engage the community in local history. It sponsors lectures, workshops, and tours of historic sites, and publishes a quarterly newsletter with articles on local history and genealogy.

The Mississippi Coast Historical & Genealogical Society is run by a volunteer board of directors and funded by donations and membership dues. Its headquarters are located in the historic Magnolia Hotel in downtown Biloxi, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
