Lauderdale Springs Cemetery LAUDERDALE SPRINGS, Mississisppi - During the Jackson Siege Campaign, wounded and sick Soldiers were sent by rail to Lauderdale Springs, Mississippi, a former resort town just east of Meridian. Patients were treated in a two story hospital. The dead were buried in a mass grave nearby. More than 1,000 Confederates sleep in Lauderdale Springs Cemetery, though only a handful of graves are marked with Soldiers' names. Photo by Capt. William Carraway
