The Jimmie Rodgers Museum in Meridian Mississippi is a tribute to the life and career of the first major country music star, Jimmie Rodgers. Located in the historic Union Station building, the Museum showcases the life and music of the “Father of Country Music” through a variety of exhibits and artifacts. Visitors will find a diverse collection of photos, artifacts and memorabilia, including Rodgers’ personal instruments, a banjo and guitar, along with his Grammy Awards, songbooks and other personal items. There is also an extensive collection of vintage country music recordings, as well as an interactive exhibit on the history of country music.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and special events, including live performances and demonstrations by local musicians, lectures and workshops, and film screenings. The museum is open Monday through Saturday and admission is free. It is a great place to learn more about the history of country music and its most famous figure, Jimmie Rodgers.

He didn't mean to; he just intended to briefly close down a 1,000-seat theater inside his store – for complicated and intriguing business reasons. Meridian, MS Union Station The Passenger station in Meridian was completed in 1906 and served Amtrak passengers until recently. Not long ago, a new station opened next door. On my visit here in 2019, it looked like they were turning this building into a museum. There is already some rolling stock behind it.
Meridian Carousel Tour - "Your Horseness of the Queen City" Meridian, MS has a series of painted carousel horses around town in honor of the Dentzel Antique Carousel at Highland Park. This one is named Your Horseness in Queen City and was designed by artist Peyton Hutchinson. Union Hotel neon sign - Meridian, MS Here is the well-worn neon sign for Meridian's historic railroad hotel, which is two blocks from the passenger depot. The hotel opened ca. 1908 and is part of the Meridian Downtown Historic District. The hotel closed in 1973 but is not used as urban apartments.
