The Duluth Art Institute Association (DAIA) is a community-based, non-profit arts organization located in Duluth, Minnesota. DAIA is dedicated to enriching communities through the celebration and exploration of the visual arts. Founded in 1919, DAIA serves as a cultural resource for the greater Duluth area, providing a variety of arts programming and educational opportunities for the community.
DAIA's campus is located in the historic Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth, and contains two distinct buildings. The first, the J.D. Prindle House, is a Queen Anne-style residence that serves as the administrative headquarters for the organization. The second building, the Duluth Art Institute, is a gallery, studio, and classroom space. It houses a diverse collection of artworks from regional and national artists, as well as programs in painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and other media.
In addition to its gallery and studio programming, DAIA hosts a variety of community events, including lectures, workshops, and artist talks. It also provides educational opportunities for K-12 students, including summer camps, after-school programs, and field trips.
The mission of the Duluth Art Institute Association is to celebrate and explore the visual arts, and to foster the development of artists and art appreciation in the greater Duluth area.
