Save Our Ship Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Duluth, Minnesota. The organization was founded in 2010 with the goal of preserving and restoring the historic S.S. William A. Irvin. The S.S. William A. Irvin was originally built in 1938 by the United States Steel Corporation and served for 40 years as a flagship for the U.S. Steel Great Lakes Fleet. The ship was retired in 1978 and was eventually acquired by the city of Duluth in 2006.

Save Our Ship’s mission is to restore the S.S. William A. Irvin to its original state, while preserving its status as a museum and educational facility. The organization works to raise money through grants, donations, and fundraising events. Since its founding, Save Our Ship has raised over $1.7 million and has made significant progress in restoring the ship.

The organization also works to provide educational opportunities and events, such as the annual “Shipshape Summer Camp” and the “Summer on the Ship” program. Save Our Ship also works to honor veterans of the U.S. Coast Guard by providing free admission for them and their families.

Save Our Ship is a volunteer-driven organization, and it relies on the support of the community to help complete its projects. The organization welcomes volunteers of all ages and skills to contribute to the cause and help restore the historic S.S. William A. Irvin.
