The Balaton Area Historical Society (BAHS) was founded in 1948 to preserve the history of the Balaton, Minnesota, area. The BAHS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of Balaton and the surrounding region. The Society is housed in the historic Balaton Depot, which was built in 1917. The depot is now a museum, featuring exhibits on the history of the area and its people. The BAHS also operates a research library, containing a wealth of primary and secondary sources related to the history of Balaton and the surrounding area.

In addition to research and exhibits, the BAHS works to preserve historic sites and buildings in the area, such as the Balaton depot and the Balaton Lutheran Church. The Society also sponsors educational programs and events throughout the year, including lectures, tours, and workshops. The BAHS also works to preserve the area’s cultural heritage through its annual Heritage Day, held in June.

The BAHS is funded through donations, membership fees, and grants. Membership is open to all who are interested in preserving the history of the Balaton area. Membership benefits include free admission to the museum, discounts on BAHS merchandise and events, and a subscription to the Society’s quarterly newsletter.

RCPE TRHU, Florence, Minn. A pair of RCPE SD40-2s lead TRHU across the Huron Sub on 7/7/2018. The Tracy and Huron Subs has been closed since 7/2 because of high water from storms.
