MICHIGAN HISTORIC PRESERVATION NETWORK

The Michigan Historic Preservation Network (MHPN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of the state of Michigan. Founded in 1975, MHPN works to protect and preserve historic sites, buildings, and landscapes, and to promote the practice of historic preservation. MHPN is based in Lansing, Michigan, and its staff of full-time professionals and volunteers provides leadership, technical assistance, and education to communities across the state.

MHPN works to protect historic resources through research, advocacy, and public education. Through its advocacy work, MHPN has successfully secured protection for hundreds of historic sites and resources from demolition and alteration. It also works to preserve historic districts and landmarks, and to promote historic preservation education. To this end, MHPN offers a variety of educational programs, including seminars and lectures, field trips, and workshops.

In addition to its advocacy and education efforts, MHPN also provides technical assistance to individuals and organizations seeking to preserve their local heritage. In particular, it provides assistance with planning, design, and construction of historic resources. It also offers a variety of services to help communities promote and protect their historic sites, including architectural surveys, grants, and fundraising.

MHPN is committed to preserving Michigan’s unique heritage and cultural identity. Through its work, MHPN seeks to ensure that the state’s historic resources are preserved for future generations to enjoy.
