LANSING, MI
The City of Lansing, Michigan is the capital of Michigan and the county seat of Ingham County. It is located in the south-central portion of the state, on the Grand River, about 90 miles west of Detroit. The city has an estimated population of about 119,000, making it the fifth-largest city in Michigan.
Lansing is home to Michigan State University, the largest university in the state, as well as a number of other colleges and universities. It is also home to a number of state government buildings and offices, including the Michigan State Capitol.
The city is home to a number of cultural attractions, including the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. The city also hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including the Lansing JazzFest and the Michigan State Fair.
Lansing is served by two major interstate highways: I-496 and I-96. The city is served by the Capital Region International Airport, as well as a number of smaller airports in the area.
The city has a number of parks and recreational areas, including Potter Park Zoo, Hawk Island Park, and Valley Farms Park. The city is also home to a number of museums and galleries, including the Michigan Historical Museum and the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum.
