Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a public institution of higher education located in Allendale, Michigan. Founded in 1960, GVSU has grown to become one of the largest universities in the state of Michigan, with an enrollment of over 25,000 students. Continuous traffic flow at the round-about This is one of the first large traffic circles installed at a relatively busy junction in the city limits. A few neighborhoods have 1/4 or 1/8 this size, but this one encounters many cars and trucks each day. So inexperienced drivers have the opportunity to learn the habit of looking "upstream" in the flow of vehicles to give right-of-way before entering the flow. Old hands can slip into the flow and exit with little mental effort, by comparison, so natural and convenient does the new driving habit come to be. Greener cemetery care - prairie for now at Fair Plains To the north and east of downtown Grand Rapids is one of the municipal burial grounds. Beginning around 2020 or 2021 to cut down on the cost of mowing the open ground and to reduce the grounds crew #carbonfootprint native plant consultants guided the planting of Michigan prairie species to be mown just once a year, as shown after the recent cut. A lot of trees despite expanding urban surfaces & services There are more and more paved roads and parking areas, rooftops and other hard surface the rain and snowmelt must move past to find ground to soak into. And yet this view shows the many trees now busy growing a new cover of leaves to turn CO2 into oxygen and sunlight into energy. So many other parts of the world are short of trees for shade and the many other #environmentalservices that they provide. Extreme brightness of morning sun just north of east Around the spring equinox on March 21 at 43 degrees north latitude the sunrise is around the east-west line of this city street, blinding the drivers facing the solar giant. But now on April 21 the sun's position in the morning is a few points of the compass more to the north of east, though still powerfully glaring on the smooth asphalt.
