KENT COUNTY COUNCIL FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION

GRAND RAPIDS, MI

Clothing waste in three views One part of the "Fashion + Nature" exhibition at the Grand Rapids Public Museum is this passageway built of mirrors and heaps of "fast fashion" clothing discarded, including a collage of items photographed to form the flooring. So visitors step on the 2-D representation, view the 3-D articles of clothing at each side of the walkway, and also see the illusion of infinite repetition of the waste visible in the mirrored walls with reflections extending into the distance.
