Friends of Wilson McLaughlin House Inc. (FOMH) is a non-profit organization in Monterey, MA dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the historic Wilson McLaughlin House. The house was built in 1790 by Captain Wilson McLaughlin, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, and is the oldest standing structure in Monterey. FOMH has been working since 1972 to maintain the house and its grounds as a living tribute to the man who built it and the local history of Monterey.

FOMH is led by a board of trustees who are volunteers from throughout Monterey and the surrounding area. The board works to organize events, fundraise, and plan repairs and improvements to the house and grounds. The group also works to promote public awareness of the house and its history and to educate the public about the importance of preserving historic properties.

FOMH also organizes events at the house, including an annual Memorial Day Picnic, a Harvest Festival, an Open House, and more. Visitors can tour the house, enjoy the grounds, and learn about the history of the house and Monterey.

FOMH works to ensure the preservation of Wilson McLaughlin House for generations to come and to honor the legacy of the man who built it. Their efforts to protect the house and promote its history help to keep the memory of Monterey’s past alive.

Children’s Chime Tower The Children’s Chime Tower (or Chimes Tower) is a memorial tower in Stockbridge, MA. It was built in 1878 and was a gift to the town by David Dudley Field, a wealthy New York lawyer and son of Rev. D.D. Fields of Stockbridge. Field gave the tower in memory of his grandchildren and, in accordance with his instructions, its chimes are rung at 5:30 every evening between “apple blossom time and the first frost on the pumpkin.” The tower is believed to have been built on the site of Stockbridge’s original meeting house of 1739. The wooden portion at the top of the tower represents the Stick style of architecture. Clocks are mounted in the central gables on all four sides of the roof.

Herman Melville's Arrowhead Arrowhead, also known as the Herman Melville House, is a historic house museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It was the home of American author Herman Melville during his most productive years, 1850–1863. Here, Melville wrote some of his major works: the novels Moby-Dick, Pierre (dedicated to nearby Mount Greylock), The Confidence-Man, and Israel Potter; The Piazza Tales (a short story collection named for Arrowhead's porch); and magazine stories such as &quot;I and My Chimney&quot;.

The house, located at 780 Holmes Road in Pittsfield, was built in the 1780s as a farmhouse and inn. It was adjacent to a property owned by Melville's uncle Thomas, where Melville had developed an attachment to the area through repeated visits. He purchased the property in 1850 with borrowed money and spent the next twelve years farming and writing there. Financial considerations prompted his family's return to New York City in 1863, and Melville sold the property to his brother.
