HOPKINTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Hopkinton Historical Society (HHS) is a non-profit organization located in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Founded in 1971, HHS is dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting the history and heritage of Hopkinton and its residents. HHS is an active participant in the local community, hosting and sponsoring numerous events, lectures and programs throughout the year.

HHS operates out of the Hopkinton Historical Center, a facility located in the heart of Hopkinton. This center serves as a museum, research center, and archives, and is open to the public free of charge. The Center houses an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials related to Hopkinton’s history. The collection includes materials relating to local businesses, churches, schools, and even the state prison located in Hopkinton.

HHS also maintains a library and archives which are open to researchers and the public. The library contains a variety of books, newspapers, and other documents related to Hopkinton’s past. The archives include a variety of documents such as birth, death, marriage, and property records.

HHS is a member of the Massachusetts Historical Society and is affiliated with the Massachusetts Historical Commission. The organization is also active in local and regional preservation efforts, and is a member of the Preservation Massachusetts organization. HHS also collaborates with other local organizations, including the Hopkinton Public Library, the Hopkinton Town Hall, and the Hopkinton Public Schools.

HHS is committed to preserving Hopkinton’s past and educating the public about its history. Through its events, programs, and activities, HHS works to ensure that Hopkinton’s past will be remembered and appreciated for generations to come.
