OLD NORTH CHURCH

Old North Church, or Christ Church, is an historic Episcopal church located in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1723, it is the oldest standing church building in Boston. It is best known for its role in the American Revolution, as it was from its steeple in 1775 that two lanterns were hung to signal Paul Revere that the British were coming by sea.
Old North Church is one of the most iconic landmarks of Boston and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961. The church is built in the Georgian style and features a distinctive white steeple which stands over 200 feet tall. It is the oldest surviving church in Boston and one of the oldest in the United States.
Inside the church is an interior filled with historical artifacts, such as a bell cast in England in 1744 and a pulpit which dates back to the 18th century. The church also houses a variety of religious artifacts, including a large collection of stained-glass windows and an organ which was built in the 19th century.
Old North Church is still an active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and holds regular services and events. The church also offers guided tours to visitors, allowing them to learn more about its history and explore its many features. It is one of the most famous and beloved landmarks in Boston and its importance to the American Revolution makes it an iconic symbol of freedom and independence.
