ADAMS HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Adams Historical Society (AHS) is located in Adams, Massachusetts, and is dedicated to preserving the history of the area. Founded in 1932, the Society has a long-standing commitment to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the culture and history of the town and its people.

The Society operates a museum in downtown Adams, which is open to the public. The museum houses several permanent exhibits, including items related to the town's industrial past, its railroad history, various local industries, and its religious institutions. In addition, the museum hosts special exhibits and educational programs throughout the year.

The Society also owns and maintains several historic buildings and sites in Adams, including the Adams Free Library, the Adams Fire Station, and the Hoosac Tunnel. The Hoosac Tunnel was built in the late 1800s as part of the Hoosac Valley Railroad and is the longest railroad tunnel in North America. The Society offers guided tours of the tunnel, as well as other historic sites in the area.

The Society is a member of the American Association for State and Local History, and is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Adams and the surrounding area. The Society is also involved with numerous other community groups and organizations, and is constantly working to ensure that the history of Adams is not forgotten.
