The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts is the oldest chartered military organization in North America and the third-oldest chartered military organization in the world. Founded in 1638 in Boston, Massachusetts, the company was established by the colonial charter of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. This charter mandated that the company “shall consist of an hundred and fifty men, which shall be called the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of the Massachusetts Bay.”

The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts has a long and distinguished history, having served in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and both World Wars.
