The MT Zion Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Princess Anne, Maryland. Founded in 1983, the society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the African American community in Somerset County and the surrounding areas.

The society operates out of the historic Mt. Zion Methodist Church, which was built in 1811 and served as a center for African American worship, education, and community life for over 150 years. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and was restored with the help of the MT Zion Historical Society.

Today, the MT Zion Historical Society offers a wide range of programs and services to the community, including educational programs, historical tours, cultural events, and preservation efforts. The organization is also actively involved in collecting and preserving artifacts and documents related to African American history in Somerset County and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Through its work, the MT Zion Historical Society strives to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the contributions of African Americans to the history and culture of the region, and to inspire future generations to continue this legacy of achievement and excellence.
