The Prince George’s County Historical Society Inc. (PGCHS) is a non-profit organization located in Riverdale, Maryland. Founded in 1966, the PGCHS seeks to preserve the history of Prince George’s County and promote the study of its past. The organization works to collect and preserve artifacts, documents, and photographs related to the county’s history and to create a museum and research center to share the resources with the public.

The PGCHS is governed by a Board of Trustees and is supported by a variety of memberships and donations. The Society’s activities include lectures, workshops, field trips, and other special events. The organization also maintains a library of books and other materials related to local history and culture.

The PGCHS has compiled an extensive collection of historical records, including land records, court records, tax lists, photographs, maps, and newspapers. The Society also preserves a variety of material culture, including textiles, furniture, and tools. The organization also works with the county government to help preserve the county’s historic sites and to advocate for their protection.

The PGCHS is dedicated to preserving the past in order to inform the present and shape the future of Prince George’s County. Through its efforts, the Society seeks to share the county’s rich history and culture with the public, supporting the growth of the area and creating a legacy for future generations.
