The Bull Shoals Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the history and culture of Bull Shoals, Arkansas. Founded in 1978, the Society is committed to providing educational and public outreach programs that bring the history of Bull Shoals to life.
The Society’s activities include collecting, preserving, and displaying artifacts that reflect the region’s history, hosting lectures and special events, and providing educational programs on local history. The Society maintains a museum located in the historic city hall building in Bull Shoals’ downtown district. The museum houses a variety of artifacts, including photographs, documents, and artifacts from the area’s rich history.
The Society also produces a quarterly newsletter, the Bull Shoals Historical News, which features articles about the history of Bull Shoals and the surrounding area. Additionally, the Society prints a bi-annual publication, The Bull Shoals Historical Journal, which includes articles from local authors and historians.
In addition to its preservation and education efforts, the Bull Shoals Historical Society is active in the community. The Society sponsors a variety of events, including a weekly “Friday Night Live” series, which features music and entertainment from local performers, as well as a yearly “Living History Day” event, which includes reenactments of life in Bull Shoals during the early 1900s.
