The Weeden House is a historic house located in Huntsville, Alabama. Built in 1819, it is one of the oldest structures in the city. The house is a two-story Federal-style brick mansion, with a low- pitched roof and a two-story porch on the front. It was built by Doctor William Weeden, an early settler of Huntsville, for his daughter and her husband. The house is now owned by the Historic Huntsville Foundation and is open for tours.

The house features a large central hall with a winding staircase, as well as a parlor, dining room, and kitchen. The exterior is made of locally fired red brick. The interior features original woodwork and a variety of period antiques, including furniture, paintings, and household items. The house is also filled with artifacts from the original Weeden family, including clothing, books, and tools.

The Weeden House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a popular stop for visitors to Huntsville. It is open for guided tours and special events, such as weddings and receptions. The house is a reminder of Huntsville's early history and its important role in the development of the city. It is a symbol of the city's past and its continued commitment to preserving its rich history.

Rockets Away! 2012 Student Launch Projects (NASA, Marshall, 4/22/12) Specially crafted rockets soared high into the skies April 22 at the 2011-12 NASA Student Launch Projects challenge. More than 500 students, representing 53 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in 28 states, launched rockets of their own design -- complete with working science payloads or engineering payloads -- at Bragg Farms in Toney, Ala. The students vied to see whose rocket could come closest to the 1-mile altitude goal and safely return its onboard science payload to Earth. Fifty-one teams took part, though two faced mechanical or technical issues and did not launch. Ten preliminary awards were presented, and the grand prize -- $5,000 from ATK Aerospace Group in Salt Lake City, Utah -- will be awarded May 18 after final post-flight analysis and review are complete. This is the fifth year ATK has sponsored Student Launch Projects. Great Moonbuggy Race, 1994 (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1994) The NASA Great Moonbuggy Race is an annual event, held at the US Space and Rocket Center and organized by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., in which high school and college students are challenged to design, build and race lightweight, human-powered moonbuggies that tackle many of the same engineering challenges dealt with by Apollo-era lunar rover developers at Marshall in the late 1960s. LAGEOS I Laser Geodynamics Satellite (NASA, Marshall, Archive, 1976) The LAGEOS I, Laser Geodynamics Satellite, was launched on May 4,1976 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The two-foot diameter, 900-pound satellite orbited the Earth from pole to pole and measured the movements of the Earth's surface relative to earthquakes, continental drift, and other geophysical phenomena. The mirrored surface of the satellite precisely reflected laser beams from ground stations for accurate ranging measurements. Scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. came up with the idea for the satellite and built it at the Marshall Center. TBEX Comes to NASA NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center hosted participants attending The Travel Blog Exchange conference for a tour of the center May 4, 2017. TBEX is the largest conference and networking event for travel bloggers, online travel journalists and social media enthusiasts. The group toured facilities that are building hardware for the Space Launch System, NASA’s new rocket, and also got visit the Payload Operations Integration Center which monitors science experiments for the International Space Station 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year.
