The Western Maryland Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Cumberland, Maryland, dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of railroads in the region. The chapter was established in 1989 and has since grown into a vibrant community of rail enthusiasts, historians, and volunteers.

The chapter operates a museum and historical center in the historic Western Maryland Railway Station in Cumberland, which was built in 1913 and served as a passenger depot until 1954. The museum features a variety of exhibits and artifacts related to the history of railroads in the area, including locomotives, passenger cars, and other equipment.

In addition to its museum and historical center, the Western Maryland Chapter also operates a number of other programs and events throughout the year. These include train rides, historical tours, and educational programs for schools and other groups.

The chapter is also involved in a number of preservation and restoration projects, working to restore and maintain historic railroad equipment and structures. Its members are passionate about preserving the rich history of railroads in the region and sharing that history with future generations.
