The Masonic Temple in Portland, Maine is a historic building located in the Old Port district of Portland. Built in 1867, the temple is a three-story, brick structure with a central tower. The building was constructed in the Italianate style of architecture and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974.

The Masonic Temple has a long and storied past. It served as a meeting place for the fraternal organization known as the Freemasons, who have been active in Portland since 1790. The building also served as a public meeting place for a variety of organizations, including the Grand Army of the Republic, the Odd Fellows, and the Knights of Pythias.

The building has seen many renovations over the years. In 1957, the interior was completely restored to its original grandeur. In the 1980s, an elevator was installed to make the building more accessible. In 2003, the exterior of the building was renovated, with the original brick and trim being restored.

Today, the Masonic Temple is home to a variety of organizations and businesses. The first floor houses the offices of several non-profit organizations, including the Maine Freemasons and the Grand Lodge of Maine. The second floor is occupied by a bank, a restaurant, and a hotel. The third floor is home to a theater and a variety of retail stores.

Coated In Ice This past Saturday started with snow that eventually turned to rain and then to freezing rain. The result was loss of power and internet as well as several large fallen pine limbs. Sunday was bright and sunny and that is when I took this in Portland.
