The Mississippi County Historical and Genealogical Society (MCHGS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Osceola, Arkansas. Founded in 1985, the MCHGS works to preserve the rich history of Mississippi County and its inhabitants.

MCHGS is dedicated to collecting and preserving documents, artifacts, photographs and other materials related to the history of Mississippi County, its people and its culture. The Society maintains a local history library, with an extensive collection of books and other media related to Mississippi County, as well as genealogical records and other information about local families and individuals. The Society also hosts monthly meetings and educational programs, including guest speakers and field trips.

The MCHGS is involved in many community outreach activities, including the preservation of local cemeteries, the restoration of historic buildings, and the marking of historic sites. The Society also works in partnership with other organizations to promote local heritage, such as the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. MCHGS is a member of the Arkansas Historical Association, and is affiliated with the National Genealogical Society, the Federation of Genealogical Societies, and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Mississippi County Historical and Genealogical Society is committed to preserving and celebrating the history of Mississippi County, and to providing educational and research opportunities for the citizens of Osceola and beyond.

Kress and Company, a chain of variety stores that could be found in various towns and cities across the Southeastern United States. The building features a buff flemish bond brick exterior with a green and pink-colored terra cotta base, white terra cotta trim around the two-over-two double-hung second-story windows, a white terra cotta parapet cap, golden lettering for the original tenant, the S. H. Kress and Company, and large first floor plate glass windows flanking recessed entrance doors. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, and is a contributing structure in the Blytheville Commercial Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. The building today houses the Delta Gateway Museum, which opened in 2011 to document and interpret the area’s history.
