The Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives (SARA) is a special collections facility located in Washington, Arkansas. Established in 1985, SARA is the largest depository for non-state archives in the state. The archives provide access to materials from the region’s past, including manuscripts, photographs, maps, and other documents. SARA is a member institution of the Arkansas State Archives and is affiliated with the Arkansas Historical Association.

The archives is open to the public and offers educational programs and exhibits. SARA serves as a research center for students, scholars, and local historians. It houses a wide variety of primary sources, including historical documents, photographs, maps, manuscripts, and other records. Additionally, the archives offers access to digital archives, including digitized newspapers, photographs, and other documents.

The archives is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours during the summer. It offers a variety of services, including research assistance, access to archival materials, and archival preservation. The staff at SARA works to ensure that the archives’ collections are properly cared for and preserved. They also strive to make the collections available to the public and to share the archives’ resources with the community.
