The Louisiana Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) is a patriotic, non-profit organization that was founded in 1894. The organization is dedicated to promoting the memory of those who served and sacrificed during the War for Southern Independence. The organization is active in preserving and honoring the Confederate heritage, and it is also dedicated to educating the public about the history of the Confederacy.

Boom or Bust Byway: Germantown Colony Museum Germantown Colony Museum was transferred from the Webster Parish Police Jury to the state of Louisiana in 2008. A new museum center was recently completed to compliment the three original buildings. The Colony was established in 1835 seven miles northeast of Minden, La. It is the third and most successful site of the Harmonist Society of the early 19th century. The colony operated on a communal basis and lasted 37 years before dispersing in 1871.
