Jackson Barracks is a historic military base located in the eastern part of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was established in 1834 and named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States and the hero of the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812.

The barracks served as a training and mobilization center for various military units, including the Louisiana National Guard, the United States Army Reserve, and the United States Marine Corps Reserve. During the Civil War, it was briefly occupied by Confederate forces but was recaptured by Union troops in 1862.

Today, Jackson Barracks is home to the Louisiana National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters and hosts several military units. The base features a number of historic buildings, including the Arsenal Museum, which houses a collection of military artifacts and memorabilia from the Louisiana National Guard's history.

In addition to its military functions, Jackson Barracks also serves as a disaster response center for the state of Louisiana. It has played a key role in responding to natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and Hurricane Isaac in 2012.

Overall, Jackson Barracks is an important part of Louisiana's military history and continues to serve as a vital military and disaster response center for the state.
