Cypress Manor Museum is a historic plantation home located in Morgan City, Louisiana. Built in 1885 by the Stewart family, the home has been a part of the local community for over 130 years. The plantation house is a two-story, wooden structure with a wrap-around porch, and a central passage running the length of the house. Its grand interior features a hall, parlor, library, dining room and kitchen.

The museum showcases the unique history of the area, with exhibits featuring the history of the plantation and its owners, the Stewart family. The museum also includes artifacts from the Civil War, including uniforms, guns, letters and documents. Other exhibits focus on the region’s African American history, with artifacts from the antebellum period, such as quilts, musical instruments and photographs.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and activities, including guided tours of the plantation and museum, as well as demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking. In addition, the museum hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, such as the annual Christmas on the Plantation and the Harvest Festival.

Cypress Manor Museum is a unique and important part of the local community, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into the area’s past. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm, and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free and donations are welcome.
