The Old US Mint, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is an iconic historic building that served as a United States Mint from 1838 to 1861 and again from 1879 to 1909. It is the only mint in the United States to have produced both American and Confederate coinage.

The building was designed by architect William Strickland in Greek Revival style and features a large courtyard, a central rotunda, and a distinctive copper roof. It was used as a mint until the outbreak of the Civil War, after which it was used as a Confederate Mint until it was seized by Union forces in 1862. In 1879, it was reopened as a mint and continued to produce coins until 1909, following which it was used for other purposes.

Today, the Old US Mint is a National Historic Landmark and serves as a museum, showcasing exhibits on the history of the mint, the city of New Orleans, and the jazz music industry. The museum also houses a performance space, which has hosted many renowned musicians and jazz festivals. The building is open to the public, and visitors can explore the exhibits, take guided tours, and attend live performances. The Old US Mint is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the history of American coinage, the Civil War, and jazz music.
