USS KIDD

USS Kidd (DD-661) is a Fletcher-class destroyer located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Commissioned in 1943, she is named in honor of Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The USS Kidd is one of the most decorated warships in US Navy history, having earned 11 battle stars for her service in World War II.

In 1980, the USS Kidd was decommissioned and sent to Baton Rouge to become a memorial museum as part of the Louisiana Naval War Memorial. The museum offers visitors a unique experience of stepping back in time as they explore the ship’s decks and compartments, experiencing the living and working conditions of a WWII destroyer.
