Janice Holt Giles and Henry Giles were a married couple who lived in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Janice was born in 1912 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to William and Anna Holt. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1929 and went on to attend Berea College. She graduated in 1933 with a degree in English.

Henry was born in 1915 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He attended Western Kentucky University and graduated in 1937 with a degree in accounting. After college, Henry worked as a CPA and eventually became a partner in the firm of Marlowe and Giles.

In 1951, Janice and Henry married and moved to Bowling Green, where they both lived for the remainder of their lives. They were both active in the local community, with Janice writing books about the history of the area and Henry serving on the city council for 15 years. They had two children, Linda and Michael.

Janice and Henry were both greatly respected in Bowling Green for their contributions to the community. Janice was inducted into the Kentucky Women’s Hall of Fame in 1978 in recognition of her work and Henry was inducted into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2001. They both passed away in the early 2000s, leaving behind a legacy of service and love.
