Estill County Historical & Genealogical Society is a volunteer-run organization located in Irvine, Kentucky. Founded in 1969, the Society is dedicated to the preservation of Estill County's history and the preservation of family histories and genealogical records. The Society's mission is to collect, preserve, and disseminate information about Estill County, its people, and its history.
The Society hosts a variety of activities to promote its mission, such as monthly meetings, educational programs and lectures, genealogy workshops, family reunions, and field trips. The Society also maintains a library, with books and periodicals on Estill County and its history, as well as genealogical records, maps, and photographs. The Society also offers memberships for those interested in researching their family histories.
Estill County Historical & Genealogical Society members are encouraged to volunteer their time and resources, to help keep Estill County's history alive. The Society also sponsors a variety of community events, such as summer concerts, and historical reenactments. The Society also hosts an annual quilt show, featuring quilts from Estill County, and around the world.

Although they are flat on top, such rock formations are arch-shaped and hollow below. This particular natural bridge is part of one of its large canyon† areas, Kentucky's Red River Gorge.

†Note: If the Grand Canyon were not in the southwestern part of the United States but back east, my guess is it likely would be called Great Gorge. If it were in Kentucky, well, my bet is Kentuckians would have named it Big Gorge. (I'm surprised we don't call it that now–e.g. "Did you visit that Big Gorge in Arizona?
