The Cane Station Historical Association Inc. (CSHA) is a non-profit organization based in Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1984, the CSHA is dedicated to preserving the history of Cane Station, a small African-American village located in Louisville's West End. The association works to promote awareness of the history of the people, places, and events of Cane Station through educational programs, exhibits, and events.
The CSHA's mission is to “preserve and protect the history of Cane Station, making it accessible to all.” To this end, the CSHA sponsors a variety of activities, including an annual May Festival, an annual picnic and a Cane Station Cemetery Tour. The association also owns and maintains the Cane Station Museum and Library, located in the former home of prominent Cane Station citizens, the Henderson family.
The CSHA also works to preserve the history of Cane Station through its oral history project. This project collects personal accounts from former Cane Station residents and documents the oral histories in audio and written formats. The association also sponsors a variety of other activities such as lectures, workshops, and field trips.
The CSHA is committed to keeping Cane Station's history alive and passing it on to future generations. Through its various activities, the CSHA continues to celebrate the rich history of Cane Station and its importance to the people of Louisville.
