Logan’s Fort Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Stanford, Kentucky. The foundation is dedicated to promoting the preservation and restoration of Logan’s Fort, a historic landmark historically significant to the state of Kentucky.

The foundation was formed in 2006, and is composed of local citizens and members of the community that are dedicated to preserving and protecting this important piece of history. The foundation is committed to the conservation of the site, and also works to provide educational programs and public access to the historic fort.

The foundation’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the historical significance of Logan’s Fort. They are responsible for maintaining the fort, and also work to promote public awareness of the fort’s history and importance. The foundation also works to advocate for the protection and preservation of the fort’s historical artifacts.

The foundation is funded through donations and grants, as well as volunteer labor and support from local businesses and individuals. The foundation also works closely with other local organizations, such as the Lincoln County Historical Society, to further their mission.

Abe Lincoln Watching fellow bookworms, a bust of Kentucky native Abraham Lincoln sits on a Kentucky library windowsill. President Abraham Lincoln was a learned self-taught man and lawyer. The still-standing and well-kept home of the wealthy parents of his Kentucky wife is in downtown Lexington, not too far away. A replica of the humble log cabin home of Abe's grandmother is west of here in a wooded area. His parents were married in the nearby town of Springfield. And of course, he was born and lived west of here on the family farm in Hodgenville. Mr. Lincoln's native state did not elect him President nor his Democratic political foe, Mr. Stephen Douglas. Right before the Civil War, both Republicans and Democrats were too radical for most Kentuckians. Although Kentucky voters as a whole liked having slaves, Kentuckians overwhelmingly voted instead for the candidate of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_Union_Party_(United_States)" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Constitutional Union Party</a>, a third-party formed for the 1860 Presidential election that was against secession over the slavery issue. It was organized by former Whig party members who wanted a union above all else and adherence to a U.S. Constitution. (<a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S10-C1-1/ALDE_00001097/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Article 1 Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution</a> specifically banned states from organizing a Confederacy.)

There is the possibility of <a href="https://www.discovermagazine.com/technology/our-universe-may-be-a-giant-hologram" rel="noreferrer nofollow">holographic parallel universes</a> stored on the surface of a black hole, eh? The hypothesis goes that I am just a holographic puppet of a puppeteer in another universe who is pulling the strings. Far out, man. Mind blown! Come on! Math and science can lead to some very psychedelic, counterintuitive solutions. I actually respect that. But at this stage, it's a mere thought exercise. You know, bad input, bad output. Moreover, just because there might be a theoretical solution does not mean that reality (unreality?) complies. There's no way to test the idea in the foreseeable future so there's no way for scientific consensus. If it were true though, that we are a holographic parallel universe, who's to say I'm not the puppeteer, and the other universe and their black hole reflection is the puppet? Ooh, I sense a good science fiction novel. One universe battles the other, one reality and the other shadows, to dominate who is the puppeteer. We don't need a piddling battle of galaxies. We can skip that and go right to a grander battle of the multiverses. Come to think of it, I think Star Trek's Discovery series has already covered that, the multiverse war. Or was that Superman? 😉
Col. John Beatty of Ohio blames Union command for not crushing Confederates at the Battle of Perryville "If it had not been for McCook's foolish haste, it is more than probable that Bragg would have been most thoroughly whipped and utterly routed. As it was, two or three divisions had to contend for half a day with one of the largest and best disciplined of the Confederate armies, and that, too, when our troops in force were lying but a few miles in the rear, ready and eager to be led into the engagement. The whole affair is a mystery to me. McCook is, doubtless, to blame for being hasty; but may not Buell be censurable for being slow? And may it not be true that this butchery of men has resulted from the petty jealousies existing between the commanders of different army corps and divisions?" – an excerpt from the book Citizen-Soldier written by John Beatty and published in 1879 as told by the current Perryville Battlefield park manager Bryan Bush in costume --- [Historical note: Major General Buell and his Army of the Ohio were oblivious to the battle on October 8, 1862, in which his I Corp was engaged against the Confederate Braxton Bragg's Army of Mississippi. Had McCook been too hasty in engaging the enemy without the backup of the rest of the Army? Speaking of which, where were Buell and the rest of the Army of the Ohio? The undulating Chaplin Hills had deflected up and absorbed the sounds of the battle so that Buell was oblivious to the bloody battle. Frankly, that is a weak excuse for ignorance that begs many questions. The Army of the Ohio and its tens of thousands of soldiers were at rest in Perryville, except for Major General Alexander McCook's unfortunate I Corp, who were fiercely battling the Army of Mississippi amidst those hills. With deep casualties on both sides, Bragg left Kentucky for Tennessee before the entire Army of the Ohio joined in. The Confederacy could ill afford casualty levels comparable to U.S. troops, although that is what it already had in battling I Corp. It would be disastrous for the Confederacy if its Army of Mississippi were annihilated by the Army of the Ohio. That would leave a gaping hole for Union forces of the north, Kentucky, occupied-Western Tennessee, and the largely pro-Union Eastern Tennessee to funnel through Middle Tennessee straight into the heart of Georgia, which would quickly end the war. The large Confederate armies understandably shifted strategy from offensive maneuvers in Kentucky to defensive maneuvers in Middle Tennessee in 1863 and then Georgia in 1864. Bragg's shift to defense probably preserved his army and bought the Confederacy more time.]
Perryville Battlefield 2023 As part of the Confederate Heartland Offensive, the Confederacy aimed to take the war to the U.S. border state of Kentucky rather than fight a losing defensive war in Tennessee. Nashville and Western Tennessee had already fallen to the United States at the beginning of the year, mere months after declaring secession. Eastern Tennesseeans tended to be pro-Union. A battle occurred here in the sound-absorbing landscape of Chaplin Hills near Perryville, Kentucky on October 8, 1862, from the Army of Mississippi under General Bragg of the Confederate States battling against I Corps of Major General Alexander M. McCook. McCook was under the command of General Buell, commander of the United States Army of the Ohio. Unfortunately, although Buell was right in Perryville, he was oblivious to the battle that had started. McCook and his I Corps troops were on their own against the Army of Mississippi. The battle was fought roughly to a stalemate, with U.S. troops pushed back a mile. Each side would call it a win. Completely unaware of the battle, the bulk of the Union army had been resting nearby. If the full force of the Army of Ohio joined in, say if there were a second day of the battle (there was not), there would be a distinct possibility that the Confederate's Army of Mississippi could be overwhelmed and annihilated, leaving middle Tennessee with a direct opening to Georgia for U.S. troops. Add to that scenario that the undefeated General George Henry Thomas, who had played havoc with Confederate generals, would command a large swath of those fresh U.S. troops that would converge upon the Army of Mississippi. For Bragg, those elements of a prolonged battle in Perryville spelled disaster. Bragg was in Kentucky because Confederate intelligence had told him that Kentuckians would join his army in droves. That intelligence was false. Kentuckians did not join his Confederate army, which meant that the more Bragg's troops engaged in enemy territory the more his army shrank. Replacing Confederate soldiers was increasingly more difficult, especially in Kentucky. He needed a strong army for the defense of Tennessee and the southwestern flank of the Confederacy. Bragg prudently gave up his offensive maneuvers in the pro-Union state and withdrew to the Confederate area of Middle Tennessee to position for defensive maneuvers.
