Octagon Hall Museum is a historic house located in Franklin, Kentucky. The building was constructed in 1859 by Andrew Jackson Caldwell, a wealthy planter who owned over 4,000 acres of land in the area. The unique octagonal shape of the house was inspired by the popular architectural style of the time, which was based on the ideas of Orson S. Fowler.

The house has a total of eight rooms, each with its own fireplace and chimney. The first floor includes a parlor, dining room, and library, while the second floor has four bedrooms. The house also has a full basement that was used as a kitchen and storage area.

During the Civil War, the house served as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers. Today, the museum is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the area, with exhibits on the Civil War, local history, and the Caldwell family.

Visitors to the museum can take a guided tour of the house and grounds, which include a carriage house, slave quarters, and a cemetery. The museum also hosts special events throughout the year, including Civil War reenactments, ghost tours, and Christmas candlelight tours.

As the years pass and I remember the past, I can't always tell if the nostalgic memories that I select as my stories are their influence or my actual experienced reality. This is a Duncan Hines history exhibit at a local university. The paraphernalia is real. The people are cutouts. Hines was a native Bowling Green man of Kentucky, who successfully marketed food nationally. Yes, there is nostalgia in this yellowish-green image. I feel its pull. There is comfort in this scene. The husband is near the center. His cutout wife assists. But this isn't necessarily who we are. We're more quirky. If you doubt that, just look around. (I'm not even sure it is who we were, although it does look like a lot of old television show reruns that I watched.) Marketers began to realize that considerable money had been left off the table in their messaging. Modern Duncan Hines, now part of the Conagra group of brands, has a more sundry look in their publicity.
