Arches so big and flat they're bridges Kentuckians enjoy walking on the top of those natural bridges to see the elevated view and to reach the other side of ravines. Although they are flat on top, such rock formations are arch-shaped and hollow below. This particular natural bridge is part of one of its large canyon† areas, Kentucky's Red River Gorge. --- †Note: If the Grand Canyon were not in the southwestern part of the United States but back east, my guess is it likely would be called Great Gorge. If it were in Kentucky, well, my bet is Kentuckians would have named it Big Gorge. (I'm surprised we don't call it that now–e.g. "Did you visit that Big Gorge in Arizona?
