Adult purple finch♂︎ With a more pointed beak and stockier barrel chested body, this is likely a rarer adult male purple finch that I have photographed rather than a brightly-colored variation of the more common house finch (adult male). That is my best guess. Of course, probabilities favor that this is a much more common house finch.

Party trinkets Several emerald beaded necklaces were recently given to me as party trinkets. To me, trinkets that are given to party participants mean more as a thought, a concept–i.e. you're not alone; you're with us; and we like you–than as an actual object or present. I decided to express that idea by having the tiny beads displayed as a nebulous bokeh-ish macro photo rather than one where the trinkets were in focus. The diagonal of this image is about an inch.
