KOSMOSDALE ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

The Kosmosdale Oral History Project is a community-driven initiative located in Owensboro, Kentucky. This project aims to collect and preserve the oral history of the Kosmosdale community, which was once a thriving industrial community located along the Ohio River. Today, the community has largely disappeared, and the Kosmosdale Oral History Project seeks to capture the memories and stories of those who lived and worked in the area before it was dismantled.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Louisville and the Owensboro Museum of Science and History. It was launched in 2017, and since then, researchers and volunteers have conducted interviews with former residents of Kosmosdale, as well as individuals who have connections to the community.
