The State Line Historical Preservation Corporation (SLHPC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and culture of Hickman, Kentucky. Founded in 2001, the mission of the SLHPC is to preserve and interpret the history of Hickman, Kentucky and the surrounding area. The organization works to collect, preserve, and make available to the public historical and cultural information related to the area.

She watched the sunrise with me As I returned from photographing the sunrise on Reelfoot Lake, I noticed a red-shouldered hawk had been quietly watching me–probably the whole time since I hadn't seen movement in the twilight air. I could not see her perched there in the dark but I certainly saw her in the morning light.

Taken with a slow lens completely opened up at f/4, this image is from an eight-second-long exposure. I have a much faster 20mm lens but I wanted to try out this one for astrophotography. No denoising.

This is a shop sign in a fairly flat Mississippi River community on a sparsely populated part of the northwestern border of Tennessee. I will tell you what it is not. It is NOT a sign in hillbilly country, which is on the opposite side of the state, Eastern Tennessee's Appalachia region. What is it? It is a sign that there are people in the Mississippi River region that think hillbillies are cool.

Note: I am near the southwest Kentucky / northwest Tennessee border visiting certain spots in and around Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge. Frankly, I'm not certain what side of the border this spot is in.
