The William Whitley House State Historic Site is a historic property located in Stanford, Kentucky. The site, which covers over 100 acres of land, is home to the William Whitley House, a two-story brick mansion that was built in 1789 by William Whitley, a prominent early settler in Kentucky. Abe Lincoln Watching fellow bookworms, a bust of Kentucky native Abraham Lincoln sits on a Kentucky library windowsill. President Abraham Lincoln was a learned self-taught man and lawyer. The still-standing and well-kept home of the wealthy parents of his Kentucky wife is in downtown Lexington, not too far away. A replica of the humble log cabin home of Abe's grandmother is west of here in a wooded area. His parents were married in the nearby town of Springfield. And of course, he was born and lived west of here on the family farm in Hodgenville.

Mr. Lincoln's native state did not elect him President nor his Democratic political foe, Mr. Stephen Douglas. Right before the Civil War, both Republicans and Democrats were too radical for most Kentuckians. Although Kentucky voters as a whole liked having slaves, Kentuckians overwhelmingly voted instead for the candidate of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_Union_Party_(United_States)" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Constitutional Union Party</a>, a third-party formed for the 1860 Presidential election that was against secession over the slavery issue. It was organized by former Whig party members who wanted a union above all else and adherence to a U.S. Constitution. (<a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S10-C1-1/ALDE_00001097/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Article 1 Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution</a> specifically banned states from organizing a Confederacy.)

What?!? There is the possibility of <a href="https://www.discovermagazine.com/technology/our-universe-may-be-a-giant-hologram" rel="noreferrer nofollow">holographic parallel universes</a> stored on the surface of a black hole, eh? The hypothesis goes that I am just a holographic puppet of a puppeteer in another universe who is pulling the strings.

Far out, man. Mind blown!

Come on! Math and science can lead to some very psychedelic, counterintuitive solutions. I actually respect that. But at this stage, it's a mere thought exercise. You know, bad input, bad output. Moreover, just because there might be a theoretical solution does not mean that reality (unreality?) complies. There's no way to test the idea in the foreseeable future so there's no way for scientific consensus.

If it were true though, that we are a holographic parallel universe, who's to say I'm not the puppeteer, and the other universe and their black hole reflection is the puppet? Ooh, I sense a good science fiction novel. One universe battles the other, one reality and the other shadows, to dominate who is the puppeteer. We don't need a piddling battle of galaxies. We can skip that and go right to a grander battle of the multiverses. Come to think of it, I think Star Trek's Discovery series has already covered that, the multiverse war. Or was that Superman? 😉

Miracle on Appalachian Street Who is that big-hearted soul at the local dollar store on the edge of Appalachia? Young Sue Ellen wanted to know. Her mamma said he was just a mountain man with a foreign accent who volunteered to collect holiday donations for the Salvation Army. The young girl sternly nodded her head.

Sue Ellen was raised not to believe in fairy tales.

Her mamma’s new boyfriend disagreed.

(Hmm, this life-sized Eastern Kentucky craftwork doll displayed in the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea sparked me to reimagine that an old classic Christmas movie of black and white New York streets be remade into a modern Appalachian color movie for the Hallmark Channel.)
