Ness City, Kansas Ness City is a city in and the county seat of Ness County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,449. Ness City is famous for its four-story Old Ness County Bank Building located downtown, and nicknamed Skyscraper of the Plains.

The Ness County Historical Society in Ness City, Kansas works to preserve the history and artifacts of Ness County and its surrounding areas. Founded in 1967, the Society is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history of Ness County, its people, and its culture.

The Society’s museum is located in the historic 1885 Santa Fe depot building in downtown Ness City. Visitors to the museum can explore exhibits that focus on the history of Ness County and its residents. The museum also houses a research library with books, newspapers, photographs, and other documents related to the history of the area.

The Society also sponsors events and programs throughout the year, such as a monthly lecture series, a summer history camp for children, and a genealogy workshop. The Society also works with other organizations in the area to promote the area’s history and to encourage tourism.

In addition to its museum and programs, the Ness County Historical Society also works to preserve a number of historic sites throughout Ness County. It has worked to preserve the former Santa Fe railroad depot, the courthouse, and a number of other buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as numerous cemeteries and other sites of historical importance.
