The Paris Coalminers Memorial and Mini Mine is a unique memorial located in Paris, Arkansas, dedicated to honoring the area’s coal miners. Located in the Paris City Park, the memorial was established in 1982 by the Paris Coal Miners Memorial Committee and the local community. The memorial is comprised of a large granite monument surrounded by a series of five mini-mines, which pay tribute to the coal miners of the region who worked in the underground mines.
The monument stands six feet tall, and is inscribed with the names of the miners who worked in the area's coal mines. The five mini-mines each represent a different time period, beginning with the earliest coal mining in the area in the 1870s and progressing to the 1950s. Each mini-mine is constructed to resemble an actual coal mine and includes a simulated shaft, entrance, and other features of a mine. The memorial also includes a plaque that honors the miners and their families, and a mural that depicts the history of coal mining in the area.
