HISTORIC PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION OF BOURBON COUNTY INCORPOR

FORT SCOTT, KS

"Hung like a bear" Little Texas Aggie Trumpet Case Bear, Alamo Basement Aggie Ring, and I visited Fort Scott National Park, in BOURBON County, Kansas. As typical of many old army forts, it had a unique flag “pole”. Aggie Ring demonstrated to Little Texas Aggie Bear what soldiers of the 1800s did to little bears who were “unobliging”.

Could this possibly be where the term, “Hung like a bear” originated?
