John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park The John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park in located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa.

The 4.4 acre park opened in 2009 and features artwork by many artists.   

At the time of my visit, there were 28 sculptures.    

This installation is "Nomade" by Jaume Piensa.  The sculpture is 27 feet tall!    

It is a crouching figure with a skin composed of letters.

Visitors can go inside the sculpture.

Living History Farms Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Des Moines, Iowa. It was established in 1969 with a mission to educate people about the history of agriculture and rural life in the Midwest. The foundation operates a living history museum that showcases the daily lives and work of farmers and rural residents from the mid-19th century to the present.

The museum covers over 500 acres and features three working farms, a town, and an interactive learning center. Visitors can explore the farms and learn about the different crops and animals that were raised during different time periods. They can also see demonstrations of traditional farming methods, such as plowing with horses and harvesting with hand tools.

In addition, the town area of the museum features a blacksmith shop, a general store, a print shop, and a schoolhouse, among other buildings. These structures are staffed with historical interpreters who demonstrate traditional crafts and skills.

The interactive learning center provides hands-on activities and exhibits that help visitors understand the history and science of farming. It also offers educational programs and events for schools and other groups.
