Carstens 1880 Farmstead is a historic site located in Minden, Iowa. The Farmstead is a preserved example of a typical midwestern farm from the late 19th century. The site consists of a farmhouse, a barn, a granary, a machine shed, and other outbuildings.

The farmhouse is a two-story wooden structure with a steeply pitched roof and a front porch. The interior of the house has been restored to its original condition with period furnishings and decor. Visitors can tour the house and see how a family would have lived in the late 1800s.

The barn is a large, wooden structure with a hayloft and stalls for livestock. The granary is a small, wooden building used for storing grain. The machine shed houses various farm equipment, including a horse-drawn plow and a threshing machine.

The Farmstead was originally owned by the Carstens family, who settled in the area in the mid-1800s. The family farmed the land and raised livestock for several generations. In 1974, the Farmstead was donated to the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board and was later listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, the Carstens 1880 Farmstead serves as a living history museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the daily life of a farm family in the late 1800s. The site is open for tours and special events throughout the year.
