Petit Jean State Park is located on Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton, Arkansas. The park encompasses over 3,000 acres of breathtaking scenery, including steep forested slopes, meadows, and natural sandstone formations. Petit Jean is one of Arkansas's oldest and most popular state parks, and has been designated as a National Natural Landmark.

The park features a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. There are over 20 miles of trails, ranging from easy to strenuous. One of the most popular trails is the Cedar Falls Trail, which leads to the park's scenic Cedar Falls waterfall. The park also features several historic sites, including the Mather Lodge, a rustic stone lodge built in the 1930s.

The park’s natural beauty is further enhanced by its abundant wildlife, which includes white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of birds. The park is also home to the rare red-cockaded woodpecker, which is listed as an endangered species.

Engine 521 The "Moon Over Main" festival in Russellville, Arkansas, had an old fire truck being used to sell beer. The operation was named "Paint Remove 411", which makes me think of paint thinner. It is visible on a sign in the center of the image, right of engine 521.

Mount Nebo eclipse crowd Extra parking was provisioned in Mount Nebo State Park for the crowd who came to see the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. All the cars pictured are in this additional parking area. The place still wasn't terribly crowded and everyone got a fantastic view.

Eclipse Computer at Mt Nebo State Park I brought my eclipse computer to Mount Nebo State Park for a hike and some late testing. This was taken 3 days before the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse.

Tanker 4 Tanker 4 from the Mount Nebo Fire Department was placed to prevent traffic from advancing further north inside the park on the day of a total solar eclipse.
Beatnik wall This wall, in Russellville, Arkansas, had rotting wood covering spots for windows until recently. Some fun colorful artwork was placed there instead in time for the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. Unfortunately, it was difficult to get a good picture because of everything next to the wall. I'm told there are lots of little rooms on the second floor from an old hotel that once supported the nearby train station that used to handle passenger trains. The ground floor today hosts the Beatnik Angel store.
Setup and early solar observations People were setting up camera equipment and getting pictures of the sun in the morning before the total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024.
