The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMA) is located in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It is the oldest and largest art museum in the state of Iowa. Founded in 1905, the museum houses an extensive collection of over 7,000 works of art from a variety of periods and cultures. These include American and European paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, and decorative arts.
The museum is housed in three buildings: the main building, the 3rd Avenue building, and the Hearst Center for the Arts. The main building has five galleries, a library, and a café. The 3rd Avenue building houses the museum’s permanent collection. The Hearst Center for the Arts is a community space that includes an auditorium, classrooms, and a gift shop.
The museum hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, featuring both historical and contemporary works of art. It also offers educational programs, lectures, and activities for all ages. Additionally, the museum has an active public art program that has placed over 50 public art installations throughout the city.
